"Hamilton," the hip hop broadway musical about the 18th century founding father of the central bank and finance system, opened in early August to universal acclaim. The play's success has inspired several new musical projects, including:
"Kane," a slow-core musical based on the adventurous life of Elisha Kane, who traveled the Arctic in an unsuccessful search for the missing Sir John Franklin in 1855. The funereal score and Alan Sparhawk-penned libretto will climax when it is announced that Kane has scurvy but wants to travel the 80 miles to look for Franklin anyway.
"Warren," a neo-punk musical based on the important life of Joseph Warren, who performed the autopsy of Christopher Seider, the first person killed in the Boston Massacre of 1770. The angry libretto and Fall Out Boy three-chord score will climax when Warren declares to the Revolutionaries that Freemasonry is the only way forward in the resistance.
"Nader," a gregorian chant musical based on the influential life of Ralph Nader, who demanded that car companies install seat belts after he published Unsafe at Any Speed in 1965. The homophonic score and latin libretto based on tunes of John Taverner will climax when Nader runs for president every four years from 1992 to 2008.
"Eastman," a chillwave musical based on the innovative life of George Eastman, who founded Kodak film and popularized the "roll" of film in 1889. The Washed Out score and Neon Indian-penned libretto will climax when Eastman is named "Third Most Generous Philanthropist" after John Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie during his funeral.
"Coleman," an R&B musical based on the foundational life of Norman J. Coleman, the first Secretary of Agriculture, who served 18 days in 1889 as the Secretary but was never confirmed by Congress. The D'Angelo score produced by the Roots will climax when President Grover Cleveland leaves office, therefore prompting Coleman to quit as Secretary after 18 days and return to his home state of Missouri.
